I've always loved Mother's Day, even before I was a mommy. This year was extra special though seeing as it was my first one with Growly Bear.
My hubby started the day by giving me a card and chocolates. The best part was, Growly Bear "drew" a little picture in the card. Her first ever drawing, and it's in my first ever Mother's Day card. Fitting, I'd say.
After delivering some White Chocolate Lemon and Blueberry Scones hot outta the oven, with fresh chilled Devonshire Cream to my momma, we went and spent the day on the beach with our friends.
The sun was shining, we had a bonfire, the kids happily played, and my wonderful friend packed a big picnic lunch for us all, so I didn't even have to worry about bringing food! We even had a little photo shoot on the sand dunes so that I could update the photo on the first page of my blog! Here's one of my faves! It's a perfect representation of our fun day.
We had one minor mishap when a jacket sitting off to the side caught on fire from a flying spark. We all panicked a little, but then realized we were in the presence of a skilled Fire Fighter (my hubby) so turned to him for help. Unfortunately his only bit of helpful advice was "QUICK! Someone PEE ON IT!", which of course set us all off into a fit of hysterical laughter, and the poor jacket is unfortunately didn't make it.
We finished the day off with a big Chinese food feast up at my parents house, and a nice lazy evening.
All in all, it was the absolute perfect day, and I couldn't have asked for anything more.
I'll leave you all with my recipes for the scones!
