Halloween was a success in our house! Incredible what difference a year makes. Last year Growly Bear was a little pink piggy, who had no idea what was going on, and slept through most of the Halloween party that we attended, and decided she was done trick-or-treating after about 3 houses.
This year was so much more fun! We had a busy day with a morning Halloween party at playschool, a lunch date with the Aunties, and then silly mommy that I am, I THOUGHT Growly Bear would crash for her nap as soon as we got home after all that playing and eating and visiting. Nope! Apparently that’s the joys of sugar!?
She's never been allowed much sugar. Yup. I'm "that mom", as my husband calls me in a tone that lets me know it's not necessarily a good thing! Her meals are carefully planned out with generous servings of meat and veggies and fruit and whole grains and lots of yogurt and cheese. Unless she's home with her daddy, and then I'll find out that they ate Kraft Dinner and cupcakes for lunch... Two days in a row!
Anyway, after her sugar crash happened, and it wasn't pretty, she did end up passing our for a good 2 hours (thank you lord!). As she was napping, I came to the realization that there was no way she could handle consuming much, if any, of the Halloween candy that we collected. It made her way too wired. And clearly I would be a bad mommy for letting her get to such a state. So, I figured I would have to do what any good, dedicated, caring mommy would do, and I would consume all her candy for her! So far this plan has been playing out well.
After a nutritious and well planned out dinner of Hamburger Helper (Hey! I served it with a side of green beans and sweet potato and extra cheese for the calcium! That's gotta count for something!) we headed out!
