Hope everyone had a fantastic New Year celebration.
Life's been crazy busy fun, and I haven't had a change to post until just now.
Our days have been full of amazing beaches, the most delicious food, incredible drinks, relaxation, and so much freaking fun!
All of travel went well, and the people at the airport when we landed at the Manzanillo airport were out of the world amazing! A really sweet lady took pitty on us, looking lost and having no clue what we were doing (if you've ever been through customs in Mexico, you'll know what I mean) and on our hot, tired looking baby girl, and removed us from the very back of the HUGE line when we got inside the airport, and brought us to an entire separate area with no one waiting to go through! They zipped us through, helped us gather out things, and brought us to the front of the line in the random baggage check area.
Just our luck, my hubby pushed the botton, and got the "red" light instead of the "green". For those that haven't been there, that means you get your luggage searched. 2 suitcases, 4 carry ons, a stroller, a car seat and a purse could have taken all day to look over. But instead they kinda laughed, opened up one suite case, did a quick look, and sent us on our way! Whew!
We speak pretty much zero Spanish, and they spoke very little English, but we all seemed to be able to communicate surprisingly well with smiles and hand gestures. It was an amazing arrive, and I loved every moment of it.
We were met outside the gates with smiles and hugs from the people we were coming to meet up with, and ice cold cervezas once we got to the vehicles.
Once the friends we were traveling with made it though, we all headed out on our drive to Barra de Navidad, which is where we are staying. This country is BEAUTIFUL! I was snapping pictures left right and center during out entire drive!
Our condo is just amazing. The "gringos" who live here are so much fun, and the staff that works here in incredible and so accommodating.
We started our first night off with swimming in the beautiful pool (Growly Bear's first time!) and the most incredible dinner on a deck that was literally build hanging over this beautiful beach with the hugest waves you've ever seen crashing under you! Highlight of a lifetime!
We started the next day (which was New Years Eve) with coffee and mani/pedis under the palapa. Unfortunately, the rain started about this time, but it was actually kinda cool! I've never felt rain so warm before, and it was quite the experience.
It poured all afternoon, but cleared up in time for an amazing dinner that we had on a closed off street. Dinner was followed by drinks and wandering along a boardwalk area, and fire works and live music. One of the very best nights of my life! Growly Bear was an absolute trooper, and despite being exhausted, made it though everything before passing out shortly after 1am when we got home. After she was asleep, we launched lanterns from the rooftop patio and continued to party a little longer.
Day 3 was spent eating and relaxing and having fun at a beautiful rainy beach in Melaque. We decided to order pizza in for dinner that night seeing as none of us felt like braving the monsoon.
Day 4 we ran away to La Manzanilla for a crocodile tour and another incredible beach restaurant! For anyone who hasn't experienced it, the restaurants here are the coolest! The ones lining the beach have no front walls. You walk in from the back, and can walk straight through to the beautiful sandy beach, where they have tables and umbrellas set up! I've never experienced anything like this, but I LOVE it. It's especially wonderful for anyone with kids. While you eat and drink and relax, your kids can be happy and making sand castles at your feet.
The sun is back full force today (31 degrees!), and it's outta this world amazing! The gang has gone on an ATV tour. It's not really up mine and Growly Bears ally, so we opted to stay back at the condo, and have a nice quiet day just the 2 of us. We swam and explored the grounds a little. Had some lunch, and watched a little "go-go" (Cat in the Hat) while temporarily hiding from the heat. She's napping, and I've been working on my tan, enjoying my book and a couple ice cold cervezas by the pool. Everyone should be back soon, so I should probably tidy up a little so it doesn't look like I've been sitting on my butt all day (which I totally have!)
This is the life I tell ya! I may never want to leave!
Hope everyone at home is doing well!
Love and Hugs!
