Especially seeing as I've been at home for the last year, and have had very limited exposure to adult conversation. I'm totally taking advantage of office interactions, and conversations that don't' involve talk of dirty diapers, and baby food, and sleep schedules.
It's great to be back at work! I'm all set up at my new desk (way more space then my old one!) with my brand new computer (she's a beaut!) and a girlfriend who I've known for years and years and used to work with a life time ago at a different job, started working there while I was on Mat. Leave, so it's super fun to be working with her again. Plus, I've missed all my other co-workers, so it's great to be back.
My first day back, my boss celebrated by buying me a new hole punch (that one at my desk SUCKED!) and ice cream. All in all, a good first day back!
Day 2, I casually mentioned that it was "Snack Friday" (a term I made up. There was never "Snack Friday" before I went on my leave. I just thought I'd throw it out there and see what happened). He took my not so subtle hint, and came back with chicken fingers and poutine! If that's not perfect "Snack Friday" food, I don't know what is!
Day 3 was also pretty darn good! I was going to work till 5, but due to the lovely sunny weather we had today, my boss ordered me to quit at 3 so that I could go home and enjoy the sun. I did actually have a lot of work to do, so I tried to argue for a little bit, but he won. He reminded me that it will be waiting for me next week, and I can deal with it then. Worlds best boss I tell you!
I was even able to relax (mostly!) and not worry about Growly Bear (too much!) seeing as she spent Day 1 with her Grama, and Day 2 & 3 with her Daddy. I knew she was in good hands, and she was happy, and semi clean, and fed each night when I got home, so I'm thinking she had a good few days.
Leaving for work on day 2 was the hardest. Growly Bear and her daddy were fast asleep in the middle of our big bed when I left,. I snuck in to give them kisses, and it donned on me that only once ever had I not been there in the morning when she woke up. I had a moment of thinking I might get all weepy, but I swallowed the lump in my throat, and snuck back out quickly. Turned out she managed just fine! And I did too once I got to work and got distracted by my wonderful, crazy co-workers,
Tonight she was extra cuddly, and offered more hugs and kisses then usual, so I think day #3 was the magic one where she started to miss me. I've got the next 4 days to cuddle her till she's sick of me though.
This tired working mommy is off to bed now.
Love and Hugs!
