I mostly blame it on my girlfriend who's due to have her baby within the next 3 weeks. She's in full on "nesting" mode, and she's been telling me about her cleaning and organization endeavors, and I think a little bit of the has rubbed off on me. Which is a good thing, becasue lets face it, my poor house can use all the help it can get! Pretty sure I've been just one step away from having the Hoarders people show up on my doorstep to assist in an intervention!
Two nights ago, after talking with a girlfriend at work about how disgusting both her house and my house are, and comparing gross, dirty home, horror stories, I decided to attacked the dinning room! A little over 4 hours later, I had scrubbed the walls, doors and moldings, washed the windows and curtains, vacuumed and dusted everything within an inch of it's life. I got rid of a bag full of jackets and shoes which are headed for the thrift store, and another box of crap went to the dump.
My poor sweet Growly Bear was so weirded out watching me attack the room she kept saying, "OK Mommy! Mimi's turn!"
You see, Mimi is my neat freak, house always gleaming clean and perfect friend, and I'm pretty sure the only time she's seen someone go at a room the way I was, has been at Auntie Mimi's house, and I think she was suggesting I call for backup!
After a while, she gave up trying to convince me to call in my friend, and followed me around with a tea towel, wiping everything off from about 2.5 feet and lower. I think she realized I was in over my head, and was trying to assist however she could.
While I did that, my hubby attacked our terrifying back room, and filled the back of his truck up with junk. Yay for getting rid of years worth of $*&%!
Yesterday Growly Bear and I attacked the kitchen in the same way. Everything got pulled out of cupboards and drawers, and wiped down, inside and out.
Today was suppose to be the big day for the living room, but I got pretty overwhelmed trying to sort out the incredible amount of crap and "important" papers that have been residing in the desk, and I didn't make much progress with the rest of the room. So, we will continue on with that tomorrow.
Other then having sore muscles, and bruised knees, and chapped hands, I feel fantastic! It feels bigger in here! Looks brighter! Smells fresher! I'm loving it! Now if only I can keep it up....
This tired mommy is going for a soak in the tub.
